Life in a provincial style
Provincial small towns. Buildings of stations in the style of 50-60 years. It is possible to make historical films here. No one is in a hurry. After the metropolis it seems that someone switched the speed of video playback, reducing it by 50%. Here, everyone speaks more slowly, moves more slowly, live more slowly...
Probably, it is good to live at such a pace. But the youth are stubbornly trying to turn into mega-cities, in order to join the eternal pursuit of success. And small towns gradually fall into decay and "age".
On the other hand, it has its own rules, its own morality. Everybody knows each other. Make a mistake, and it will haunt you for the rest of your life. It reminds me of an Internet joke:
In a trial, a Southern small-town prosecuting attorney called his first witness, a grandmotherly, elderly woman to the stand. He approached her and asked:
"Mrs. Jones, do you know me?"
She responded: "Why, yes, I do know you, Mr. Williams. I've known you since you were a boy, and frankly, you've been a big disappointment to me. You lie, you cheat on your wife, and you manipulate people and talk about them behind their backs. You think you’re a big shot when you haven't the brains to realize you'll never amount to anything more than a two-bit paper pusher. Yes, I know you."
The lawyer was stunned. Not knowing what else to do, he pointed across the room and asked: "Mrs. Jones, do you know the defense attorney?"
She again replied: "Why yes, I do. I've known Mr. Bradley since he was a youngster, too. He's lazy, bigoted, and he has a drinking problem. He can’t build a normal relationship with anyone, and his law practice is one of the worst in the entire state. Not to mention he cheated on his wife with three different women. One of them was your wife. Yes, I know him".
The defense attorney nearly died. The judge asked both counselors to approach the bench, and, in a very quiet voice, said:"If either of you idiots asks her if she knows me, I'll send you both to the electric chair." (credit)

Sounds like a lovely place to live or visit. When the new generation is all about being cool, money, and what's stylish; to what I've witnessed that is when a town like this looses it's charm. I hope it stays in slow-motion. That is how I like it.
On a further note, I'm a perpetual traveler and have been living out of a backpack for over 10 years. I do travel reports on Steemit now. People really like them. Here is my latest report. I hope you enjoy. https://steemit.com/travel/@world-travel-pro/world-travel-report-paradise-hot-spot-lake-atitlan-guatemala
