Today I went to the Ecuadorian Emabassy in LondonsteemCreated with Sketch.

So today I went to be a personal witness (and for all steemians) the events surrounding Julian Assange at The Ecuadorian Embassy. I was actually surprised at how underwhelming the media circus was when I arrived, considering how much attention wikileaks has had in the 5 years since I was last here, at the beginning of his detention. Last time when I came to make sketches for a painting, I was faced with the worlds media, a battalion of Metropolitan Police and a handful of protesters. Today there was a couple of satellite trucks, maybe 10 cameras operators and presenters, and about 20 protesters. The atmosphere was nowhere near as tense either, everybody including the police seemed very relaxed and even a bit bored.
As bad luck would have it, when I popped off to grab a coffee, Julian came to the balcony and gave a short speech, I just watched the video of it now I am home. Certainly not as historic speech as the one I witnessed 5 years ago but still I would have liked to have seen it.
As i was leaving the dedicated camera operators were hanging around waiting, hoping to get that exclusive shot of Elvis leaving the building but I don't expect him to be coming out again today. At least I got a few sketches for my next painting.IMG_0254.JPG

Of course there was little media. They don't want it all over the news.

agreed... such a contrast to when he went in
