This is exactly what's going to happen. But we don't know when it will happen. It might be next year or 2020.
Well, we need first that Bitcoin starts to grow again...nonetheless, I don’t care when exactly will be but what I know is that the time for investing in Steem is now and not then.
When it happens, a couple of weeks of power down will be sufficient to recover the efforts.

Agreed and now is the best time to be powering up - Steem is less than SBD so the ratio is excellent!
To many people here with a short sighted opinion on Steem - no it wont ake you rich over night or even in the next 6 months, but 5 years time, well who knows? The sky (moon) is the limit :P
@toofasteddie, very nice article! I like the chart! By the way, reading your crypto analyses/post recently I want to ask you the following question: Why do you think that in 1 year the price of Steem will be much higher? Don't you think it may take much more time?
It may, of course. Time is a difficult variable to handle with.
We can forecast the potentiality but time is more difficult, however I think SMT deployment can trigger the price to a higher level.
