A Poem- The Instagram Girl
For some reason in the middle of my sleep I was being told to write a poem about narcissism and social media so here it goes!
The Instagram girl collecting fans,
The Instagram girl with her face dead pan,
The Instagram girl offers nothing more,
Than good looks, body, which is quite a bore,
Constant uploads to get her hit,
Of dopamine a complete quick fix,
A constant stream of hungry men,
But what else is she offering then?
The Instagram girl is symbolic,
Of a narcissist society turned diabolic,
A place where the inner has no meaning,
Its all about those shallow feelings.
A society that has no depth,
Just floods of selfies, where knowledge has left,
The Instagram girl doesn't care,
As long as she has nice hair.
The World needs healing,
It has no feeling,
But who cares right?
As long as you get one thousand likes.

Beauty is obviously quite the marketable asset. So, for example, escorts leverage their looks to charge clients for intercourse, while the Kardashians use provocative booty shots to sell magazines and mobile apps. Everything is done in a very calculating manner in order to maximize profit.
Then we have the Instagram generation. Your average college girl's posts on social media might garner a lot of male attention, but they fall short when converting those 'likes' into cold, hard cash.
Which I guess is the issue I have with these girls. When you're running a business, your content has to appear glamorous, and sensationalistic. I get that.
But if you're not getting paid to do it, then you're just engaging in narcissistic body worship.
Spot on there are so many of these women and men that are offering nothing to the World other than their looks. I mean to some extent its mainly genetics anyway, doesnt take any kind of talent other than maybe a good pout!
