Components

  • Advanced Beneficiary feature on Steeditor

Proposal Description

My suggestion here is to make those who comment on your post beneficiaries of the post reward.
There is already a feature to set steem user to share from your post rewards. How about sharing with your real fans. This feature will be enabled with two basic addition.

  • select the percentage beneficiary reward for your fans (those who comment on your post).

  • select max number of beneficiaries (E.g, if you select 10, the first ten comments get a beneficiary reward according to your set percentage).

These two features will have to depend on each other so you do not set above the available resources. For instance, if you select 1% as fans beneficiary reward, the max number of beneficiaries should not exceed 100. 1% for 100 beneficiaries is 100% of your post rewards. So your total number of fan beneficiaries will be dependent on your set percentage for fans beneficiary reward.

[This is a rough edit of how my suggested feature should look like. From the drop down you can select a maximum number of beneficiaries which would be dependent on your selection percentage of beneficiary reward.]
I have created an issue on Github, still awaiting the projects owner respond.

Benefits

If this feature is implemented and there is a sought of awareness of the availability of this feature, it will create better post interactions. People would get more active knowing that they will get a share of the rewards that post will get. This will also lead to a direct increase in activities on the steem blockchain.

Hello @tony-duke!
Thank you for contributing.
I must say that the suggested feature would have encouraged users to engage in the comments section but unfortunately this can not be implemented.
You have to set a beneficiary at the time of posting and if someone comments on your post, you can not set beneficiaries again. Adding a beneficiary requires the name of the user to be set before posting and as stated above, beneficiaries can not be set after the post is published.

But isn't that why it is a suggestion? Or do you mean to say no dev work can be put in to enable that feature? Like is is impossible to implement?

Yes, that is what I meant.
I must say it would have been an excellent feature but unfortunately it is impossible to implement.

Thank you for your review, @syedumair! Keep up the good work!

Hey @tony-duke,
as mentioned by @syedumair, this is not possible to implement in steeditor due to limitations in Steem. Steem allows beneficiaries to be set only once and only as long as there are no votes or comments on a post. You can't edit beneficiaries once they are set. Additionally, you can only have up to 8.

However, are you aware of @steem-bounty? This allows authors to set a STEEM or SBD bounty for comments on their posts. I think it follows the same goal as your suggestion. Check their FAQ for more details on this!
