Take Action on Your Goals and Dreams

Have you ever found yourself saying, "but I can't take action on my goals and dreams"? Well, I've been there and I know what you're feeling. Just recently, my company, the very best in the industry, was sold to a larger company. But instead of celebrating, I began to worry about the potential losses to the business. The same feelings that I had when selling my company, I have now when planning and working towards taking positive action on my own goals and dreams.


There are so many reasons why people lack the initiative to take action on their dreams and goals. Often it's because they believe they aren't capable of it. Sometimes it's because they don't truly believe they have the skills necessary to accomplish it. And other times it may be because they believe it won't really make a difference anyway, and the effort are just going to be wasted.

Don't misunderstand me, I am not encouraging you to sit back and relax and assume that action won't make a difference. What I am suggesting is that you have a mindset that will allow you to take action even when you feel like you aren't in a mood to do it. This doesn't mean you should act on impulse or get pressured by others. However, if you find yourself in a place where you are thinking negatively and you find yourself procrastinating then you are in a place where action can positively impact your life.

So what are some of the actions you can take to make sure you are taking the right steps? First, you need to start developing a roadmap of your goals. Write them down, explain to yourself how you think they will play out, and how you want them to be achieved. Think about your plans for the future, and figure out what it would take for you to get to those goals. Remember to include a time line and make it specific enough so that it's easier to keep moving towards your goals.

Once you have your goals written down and outlined, commit them to memory. Imagine looking at them every day and going through them. Visualize the end result in your mind's eye. Once you have this mental imagery in your head, you can start to move forward and take action. Make sure you take all your steps in the proper order. That way you will be more likely to succeed.

Once you've actually gotten started on your plan of action, don't quit. Keep going. Don't give up until you see results. It's tempting to try to do things at a slower rate in an attempt to get it all done at once and feel good about yourself. However, this isn't the way to succeed.

Instead, take action one step at a time. Focus on one thing at a time and go for it. In time, you will see your dreams becoming a reality and your goals taking physical form.

Remember, you don't have to do it all at once. Take baby steps if you need to. Also, remember that you aren't going to make something happen overnight. But when you finally reach your goal, you will be so happy and fulfilled that you will be willing to take more action to make your dreams come true.

So where do you begin? Where do you stop? Well, you can start by taking one small step at a time and working towards your ultimate goal. Keep in mind that if you want to take action, you must be willing to take that action.

For example, let's say you really want to lose weight. You know that is something that is difficult to accomplish and will take a lot of hard work, motivation, and persistence. However, you know that if you get started now, you are on the right path. You will definitely feel overwhelmed at first as you try to get rid of those pounds, but if you stay focused and keep your eye on the goal, you will eventually feel as though you have made great progress.


As you progress, you can take steps to increase your level of commitment and determination. If you just give up on your goal in the middle, you may be disappointed when you wake up and find out it wasn't possible. You have to be patient. Now is not the time to be giving up on yourself or your dreams. Take action on your goals and dreams. Do not wait until it's too late.
