Setting Limits on Yourself - What it Is All About

When we feel that we are not capable of doing something, we sometimes set limits on ourselves. We believe that we can never achieve our goal and thus, we set limitations on ourselves. This is actually very unhealthy. As mentioned earlier, the whole purpose of setting limits is to help us make better decisions and achieve our goals.


For example, if you set a limit of how much you want to eat, it means that you will always think about what you want to eat. There will always be times when you get too hungry and you will start searching for food. This will only lead to obesity. Of course, the same goes for when you limit yourself to the amount of sleep you need. You can never achieve anything if you don't give yourself the time you need.

Limiting yourself also leads you to procrastinate. Instead of putting all your effort and concentration into one task, you just wait until the last moment and then do something else. This is something you should never do. If you have been doing this, then it is time you put a stop to it.

When we limit ourselves, we also set ourselves up to fail. By not giving ourselves the time and effort that are required for us to succeed, we will only end up disappointed and depressed.

Therefore, if you are going to set limits, it should be clearly defined. It should also be something that you can easily accomplish or at least easily handle yourself.

The best thing to do is to set a limit on what you are capable of and that you are confident enough to try and achieve. Then, you will be able to enjoy what you are doing much more. It will also give you more motivation and it will help you achieve your goals much faster.

A good example would be that you can write a number of pages of an article and you will only be able to write 100 words. Now, that sounds like a lot but if you set your limit at 50 words, you will surely be able to write that much. in a day. At the same time, you will be able to focus more on the actual writing process. as opposed to the task itself.

In addition, once you set your limit, make sure that you stick to it. This way, you will have the will power and the determination to accomplish whatever it is that you set as a goal.

Another good thing to do is to set a limit on how many times you are allowed to work on a certain task. For instance, if you set your limit to two days, then you will only work on this for two days.

You should set a limit so that you will not get discouraged. Once you reach your target, you will feel great about yourself and you will get motivated to work even harder.

Also, setting a limit on the amount of time that you spend working on a project can be useful. It is quite helpful especially when you are just starting out and don't know exactly how long you have to get a particular project done.

Another example is that you should not set a limit on the amount of money that you will work on a certain task. Although there are some that say you cannot be successful without money, you should set a limit. because if you do not have enough money, it is hard for you to start your own business. Setting a limit on how much money that you will work on each day is not necessary. It is just a guideline.
