Vilnius, der erste Eindruck - Vilnius, the first impression

Vilnius war unser erstes Ziel unserer Baltikumreise. Wir flogen von Innsbruck über Frankfurt mit der Lufthansa nach Vilnius, der Hauptstadt von Litauen.

Vilnius was our first destination on our Baltic tour. We flew from Innsbruck via Frankfurt with Lufthansa to Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania.

Wir kamen erst um ca 18 Uhr an (im Baltikum ist MESZ +1), holten das Leihauto ab und fuhren zu unserem ersten Hotel der Reise. Nachdem wir im Hotel eingecheckt hatten und die Koffer ins Zimmer gebracht haben, sind wir auch schon los, um die Stadt zu erkunden (in Vilnius hatten wir 2 Übernachtungen).

We arrived at about 6 pm (in the Baltic States it is CEST +1), picked up the rental car and drove to our first hotel of the trip. After we checked into the hotel and brought the suitcases into the room, we left to explore the city (in Vilnius we had 2 nights).

Von unserem Hotel mussten wir ca 5 min zum Tor der Morgenröte gehen. Von dort aus geht die Straße runter mitten in die wunderschöne Altstadt von Vilnius. Vorbei an tollen Gebäuden, schönen Kirchen, netten Kaffee's und Restaurants. Da wir hungrig waren assen wir etwas, bevor wir unser kleine Erkundungsrunde fortsetzten.

From our hotel we had to walk about 5 minutes to the Gate of Dawn. From there the road goes down into the middle of the beautiful old town of Vilnius. Past great buildings, beautiful churches, nice coffee's and restaurants. Since we were hungry we ate something before we continued our little exploration round.

Der erste Eindruck von Vilnius ist großartig. Die Stadt hat alles, angefangen von einer wunderschönen Altstadt über nette, hilfsbereite Leute, "alte renovierungsbedürftige" und moderne Gebäude, was den Charm einer tollen Stadt ausmacht.

The first impression of Vilnius is great. The city has everything from a beautiful old town to nice, helpful people, "old buildings in need of renovation" and modern buildings that give the charm of a great city.

Das war der erste Teil von Vilnius. Ich hoffe ich konnte Euch die schöne Stadt etwas näher bringen und wünsche Euch allen noch eine schönen Montag.
