The Sure Foundation

24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. - Matthew 7:24-27

Jesus, in this reference scriptures made a comparative description of two kinds of people who both listen to the word of God, but their approaches to it differ. It reveals that those who listen to God's word and have a nonchalant attitude towards it are unwise. Those who act on the word however will receive multiple blessings of obedience, and they have their faith firmly fixed on God.

The foundation of every building matters a lot. This is what determines the fate of the whole structure that will stand on it. A faulty foundation yields a poor building prone to collapse in no time. A solid foundation however brings safety, and is durable. Even when natural and human forces act on it, it keeps standing strong. This is the portion of those who yield to the word of God.

God is faithful, who does not delight in the damnation of man, but will always provide a way of escape. In the case of a faulty foundation, God also provides a way of escape, or repair.

If the foundations are destroyed, What can the righteous do? - Psalm 11:3

The way out of a faulty foundation is to take refuge in the Lord, and in the light of His word.

The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe. - Proverbs 18:10

There is also a need to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, bearing in mind that your salvation is an enduring one, and it requires patience, if you want to end strong. Your new nature in Christ is spiritual, and must be lived as a sinless crucified life. This life is sustained by a continuous study of God's word, and strict adherence to all it says.

I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. - Psalm 119:11

Jesus is the Surest Foundation

For God has already placed Jesus Christ as the one and only foundation, and no other foundation can be laid. - 1 Corinthians 3:11 (GNT)

God has laid a foundation upon which everyone's faith is to be hinged. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Everything consists in Him. It is also in Him that we live, move, and have our beings. This simply means any religious belief that is not founded in Christ is not pointing the right Way. He is the standard that God has given to mankind, when God gave him a name that is above every other. At the mention of His name, every knee bows and every tongue confess that He is Lord. Glory to God!

If you are rooted in Christ, and in his teachings, you are standing on a firm and sure foundation, one that all forces can come against, but will always remain standing strong. Otherwise, your belief is shaky, and is bound to crumble in no time.

11 For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says, ‘The stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.
12 There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.”
