Just when we're still yet to wrap our minds around the massive loss that Leicester City suffered to Liverpool on Boxing Day, losing 4-0 at home, another top contender and the defending champion has also lost the opportunity to overtake Leicester and sit in a comfortable second position when they lost their match against Wolves by 3-2, Wolves coming back from a two goal deficit.

The Reds have thus far shown a very commendable rate of consistency in the Premier League this season and proved this even when they played against Leicester City who currently occupy second spot and seem to be having a very good fortune this season.
Manchester City however is falling short of the expectations of fans this season, being rather inconsistent with their results. They have lost two of their last 5 league matches and won three. Likewise, Leicester who have been having a smooth run for some time seem to be having a rough moment in their last three matches, from which they've recorded one draw and two loses.
As it stands, no team is contending with Liverpool for first position anymore. All they fight for now is a spot on the top 4. Within Leicester and Mancity, it is not certain yet who is more motivated to hold second spot, or whether they'll allow others teams like Chelsea or Wolves to overtake them.

Manchester City hosts Sheffield United on the 29th with Ederson, their first choice goal keeper suspended after a red card in the game against Wolves. All eyes will be on them again. Hope fatigue does not compound their issue. Guardiola has a lot of work to do in this one, trust me.
