HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY!

I didn't plan to write anything today. I was too tired and unhappy with corporate law. I simply was not getting as much as I wanted to and the topics were miserably long. Somehow as minds tend to do in such situation, I logged out.

It was then I stumbled on this post a sweetheart of mine brought to my attention, I can't explain the emotions that overwhelmed me in the one minute I read the post. It was basically a post that shared a woman's experience with a foolish man that refused to back down in traffic with a woman that he felt did not know her place.

Long story cut short, uncle was supposed to reverse so the woman could pass, he did not and the woman got out and left her car on the road so she could go and drop her children. When men got down to deflate her tires, women rushed down to protect the car ready to fight and tear the men if need be.

I know this is not the most comprehensive of stories but in that beautiful minute I got one thing that filled me with so much pride, energy and joy.

Women are refusing to stay put. Women are now simply refusing to cower and do only what they are told to do. This was just a simple event but it was a pointer to something deeper that I keep seeing around and hearing about and experiencing. Women are choosing to change the caged mindset of being subhuman and they are pushing and reaching out.
Every now and then I hear of a beautiful feat or the other accomplished by a woman, no matter how small and I smile. We are definitely not there yet, there are still more peaks to attain and more minds to change and more to do but we are making giant strides and this makes me so happy.
So Happy International Women's Day. Cheers to greater milestones! Cheers to women that simply refuse to be less than human! Cheers to men that believe in our cause! And cheers to a beautiful future ahead!
