Racism In Football

in World Of Football ⚽3 years ago

Football is suppose to be a game where despite all our unique differences in the world we should be able to come together and enjoy it to the fullest but this is not the case at the moment. There has being a series of abuse on players, fans and sometimes authorities because of where they come from or the colour of there skin.

Racism is defined as bias, separation, or opposition by an individual, local area, or establishment against an individual or individuals based on their participation of a specific racial or ethnic gathering, normally one that is a minority or underestimated.

Racism in football is the maltreatment of players, authorities, and fans due to their skin colour, identity, or nationality. Some may likewise be focused on in light of their relationship with a rival group. Nonetheless, there have been examples of people being maltreated on by their own fans.

There is little evidence of racism in the early days of football. The first black player to play top level football in Britain was Andrew Watson. On 12th March, 1881 Watson was appointed captain of Scotland and only lost his place in the team when he decided to play his football in England.

In October 2018 Antonio Rüdiger, the victim of racist abuse, stated that authorities needed to do more to deal with racism in the sport.

In April 2019 UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin said referees should stop games if a racist incident occurs, whilst FIFA President Gianni Infantino called for "harsh sanctions" to deal with racism in the sport.

In April 2019, Raheem Sterling, called for racist abuse to be punished with an automatic nine-point deduction for clubs, instead of handing out fines to the individuals directly performing the abuse.

In April 2019, the Professional Footballer's Association launched a social media campaign to make a stand against racial abuse calling upon social media organizations and the game's authorities to take action against racism.

In November 2019 Leon Balogun said there needed to be a collective response from players to racism.

In my view I think racism can be eliminated from football if and only if there is effective mass education in the entire world to educate ourselves to see each other as a person not as someone belonging to a particular group or race. We are suppose to live like the keys on a piano where both the white and black are played in harmony to give a good tune.

Lets fight RACISM, lets fight for peace in football.
