I have this amazing friend, and AT THIS VERY MOMENT she is in a foreign country, offering her family's life savings in gifts to a government that stands between her and an orphan she wants to claim as her own child. He's not a baby. He has lived, probably too much, in his fifteen short years. And he never knew that he was a missing piece of a family who didn't yet even know his name.

But there they are. And heaven's fingerprints are all over their love story. They are walking, talking examples of God's grace and mercy to a Lost Boy and his forever family.

In her own words...

The other thing I realized as we were driving him back to camp for the night, as I watched him (he probably thinks I'm nutty because I just stared at him and smiled like an idiot all day), was that I finally fully understand the cross. After all this insane work and travel and everything in between for this boy that we know hardly anything about, I get it. Diving into darkness to bring light to life is the most incredible enjoyable thing one could ever do. I want to shake him to get it through to him he cannot disappoint us or upset us or do anything to make us not want him. It doesn't matter to us if he is ever grateful, or if he follows rules well, we don't care what mistakes he has made or dreams he has stored up, all we hoped for was that when we dove into this madness that he would say yes and accept our offer to be our son. I can totally get why one person would do it for every ne'er do well on this planet, it must have been such an incredible thing for Jesus to dive in and finish it all.

It's just so beautiful, it makes me want to bawl my eyes out.

And the mystery of how HE loves us and how we then can love others remains...
