Beauties of Cephalonia Part I
Hello guys and gals,
I've decided to share the beauties of Cephalonia with you, but I will do it in small "doses" as I took way too many photos to post them all at once. So, let's start with the island's capital: Argostoli.
Other than being the capital of the island, Argostoli is also the largest city and where I stayed during my 5-day holiday. According to Wikipedia, it has been the capital and administrative centre of Kefalonia since 1757, following a population shift down from the old capital of Agios Georgios (also known as Kastro) to take advantage of the trading opportunities provided by the sheltered bay upon which Argostoli sits. Argostoli developed into one of the busiest ports in Greece, leading to prosperity and growth. It has a population of 10,633 locals but with the thousands of tourists there it feels much, much bigger.
And now that I have written all that, please take a look at the photos I took during my visit. Enjoy :)
"Sea taxis" in the port of the city
Fishing boat in the port
Loved walking the city's port
Argostoli by night
Taken from the little boat that took us to Lixouri
Downtown Argostoli
Gorgeous Neoclassical building
Here's the beautiful path where we stayed
Town's Square by night
Town's Square by night 2
And by day from another view
The Square had delicious gyro sandwiches...
Delicious pizza...
But pasta Bolognese was the very best I think
That's for now. Hopefully, I am not that busy with work tomorrow and more importantly I am in the mood to post the breathtaking photos of the beaches and Fiscardo. If not, y'all will have to pay me extra ;)
Superb! Argostoli is a very beautiful city, very well shown by your photos. A coincidence, my son returned yesterday from Kefalonia and showed me almost the same images as yours. The market with pavement reflectors, palm trees, harbor and the same Downtown Argostoli.
very wonderful view, beautiful place... i also want to travel this place for sure... so nice!
You are making me consider Greece as my next trip!
