The Pizza That Kicked Off the Crypto Currency
If you're familiar with the Bitcoin cryptocurrency, you've probably heard about the 10,000 BTC Pizza. This functions almost as a myth so let's how it all started.
First if all - it was two pizzas, not one. And yes, according to the current BTC price, each of them was 2,800,000 US Dollars.
It all started in this topic on bitcointalk.org:
I'll pay 10,000 bitcoins for a couple of pizzas.. like maybe 2 large ones so I have some left over for the next day. I like having left over pizza to nibble on later. You can make the pizza yourself and bring it to my house or order it for me from a delivery place, but what I'm aiming for is getting food delivered in exchange for bitcoins where I don't have to order or prepare it myself, kind of like ordering a 'breakfast platter' at a hotel or something, they just bring you something to eat and you're happy!
I like things like onions, peppers, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, pepperoni, etc.. just standard stuff no weird fish topping or anything like that. I also like regular cheese pizzas which may be cheaper to prepare or otherwise acquire.
If you're interested please let me know and we can work out a deal.
Thanks, Laszlo

About an hour later Laszlo posts:
I just want to report that I successfully traded 10,000 bitcoins for pizza.
Thanks jercos!
Mr. Jercos - I hope you still hodl those Bitcoins :)
So one can argue that Laszlo made a huge mistake by paying 10,000 BTC for just 2 pizzas. He could keep those Bitcoins for himself, they are worth a fortune now after all. But consider this: this was a huge PR stunt for Bitcoin. Thanks to it millions of people heard about crypto currency and eventually get into it. It was the first so well known transaction using cyrpto. Maybe those 2 pizzas did more for the current BTC price than anything else. In other words - Thanks Laszlo :)
And what about you? Are you willing to spend your Bitcoins, just buying stuff, or you hold it and and intent to never spend it unless for your Lambo when you are a millionaire? Personally I like to buy games on steam for BTC from time to time (yes, you can do it) - I think that Bitcoin needs to be, alive as a currency, a method of payment - otherwise we're only left with price speculation. And it's more fun this way!

cheers for the informative article.. :} upVoted.. :}
