What's happening with STEEM
Many people have noticed a change after HF19 and wondering why payouts don't look like they used to. Personally I noticed a decline in payouts after the Hard Fork and thought to myself ...
Did I get Forked Hard!?
I joined right before the fork. Today is my 27th day on Steemit. The chart above shows what my average "potential" payout per post has been over those 27 days.
For two weeks after the fork, I was getting ready to give up. My only solace was in high paying comments that happened to be noticed by whales. The comment ride, however, was short lived! Comments no longer seem to be getting the attention they used to, even thoughtful comments get less than $1 in potential payout...
This is not to say that comments are worthless, they are a VITAL tool in gaining traction and followers that upvote. On the topic of followers and upvotes, comments that DO NOT get followers that upvote include:
- Nice Post
- Upvoted and Followed
- Follow me
- I upvoted you. Will you follow and upvote me?
- Look at my post (link)
OR ANYTHING THAT DOES NOT REFER TO THE ORIGINAL POST!
In most cases the above comments will likely get you muted. In some they will get you flagged.
How I regained traction to get quality followers
I participated in @curie and a similar initiative by @jerrybanfield
I dumped 75% of my following list and started interacting with the people who I follow much more
I participate in @steemgigs on discord
I participate in steem.chat
You can't use any of those for "link dumping" and you shouldn't. What you can do is support and promote OTHER PEOPLE who will in turn start supporting you.
Hopefully these tactics can help you grow as well
People are too obsessed with steemit financial rewards and most of them don't understand it demands building the needed audience by dishing out good contents (authoring or curating) patience and huge perseverance to achieve it all.
There's another alternative to achieving this, if you can't climb the ladder using the time steps and stages then bring out $30k or more and invest in your steem power to enable you earn more and reduce the time, energy and perseverance needed to attain all that.
@jerrybanfield did it, he sign-up around March this year and he's already a big fish on steemit.
Patience people of the world
I agree. Steemit takes work or initial investment to succeed. It also takes the willingness to adapt. I think we can all increase each other's value by taking part in the community and sharing quality content.
We're already doing that here
Tomorrow is my one month Steemiversary and honestly i'm just trying to build a following as I attempt to comment and upvote where it makes sense. I resteem those topics that align we me and I haven't found adequate time to post OC yet. I also purged the people I "followed back" because they had no value. If I follow you, it's for a reason.
Don't just dream it, Steem it!
For the most part you are following what I would call the best practices. If you want Steemit to work for you, you will have to start posting some original content.
A good recommendation is to make at least 3 original posts for every 1 resteemed. I started out heavily resteeming then I got in my groove and started posting.
Nice post.
Really ... not only did you NOT read the post, AND NOT UPVOTE THE POST
You UPVOTED YOUR OWN COMMENT!?!?
You sir, are abusing Steemit.
This behavior is very disrespectful, and you will not last long in the community if you continue this way.
Follow me and I will follow back
The best way to get quality followers is to follow people who's content you enjoy and comment thoughtfully on their posts.
If you don't enjoy someone's content, there is no use in following them because you'll never read the posts.
I'm clearly joking @timeshiftarts :)
Nice post, upvoted and followed, lol jk. I get that a lot too. My posts have actually been doing good since the last 2 weeks or so. But there was a week where I had like 40 dollars in comments, and maybe now I get 10 if I'm lucky. I still am doing alright, but will check out your tips.
I'm happy you're doing well. I love to see success stories!
We are ever improving and that's what makes us a great community.
welcome here @timeshiftarts...! Nice post, I followed your account, Don't forget follow and upvote me.
Did you not read the post at all?
Nice PostLol, jk. I agree, you don't want to some boring generic comments. The whole point is to interact so you need some substance. Btw, the @curie thing....I glanced at it so not sure how it works, but I thought you could only nominate posts by others? I'll have to check out @steemgigsYou can only nominate other people's posts but by participating you attract the attention of other curators who will notice you and your posts.
Makes sense...will try it in the next round. Thanks!
Steem dollars are pegged to the US dollar. I will post about this tomorrow. But relatove to other currencies the us dollar has been in downtrend.
The SBD is "loosely" pegged to USD, Steem is entirely market dependent. The "loose" peg wobbles between about $0.96 and $1.50 under most conditions. There is an interest system in place to compensate for falls below the USD value.
We need more engagement!
The reason why potential payout keeps declining is that "recent claims" drastically rises, the more whales keep upvoting, the more the potential claims decrease to 50% to 70% with in 7 days before payout!
This is true for a post within it's 7 day window for payout, yes. The focus of the article was more concerned with why have we seen drastically lower payouts post HF19 than pre HF19.
I have been here a couple weeks and I don't see any ROI for myself, I just like the platform to stay up to date with cryptos.
What sort of investment have you put in to get a return on?
I put about 4K USD when Steem was araund $1.80. Not only my total investment is worth only around $2500 now but I have to wait to power down.
I wouldn't power down, but that's just my personal view.
Steem is growing (in the long run) because Steemit is in Beta there will be bumps in the road.
I think a "panic sell" will only devalue the currency.
Take a look at some of my other blogs about crypto to see what I mean.
I will not sell until I can make a profit, I may power down to have the Steem ready for when the time comes. I don't see much benefit of having Steem power.
