AMX -The Forgotten Muscle Car

in #cars6 years ago

In the 60s muscle cars owned the roads, and everyone has heard of the Mustang, Chevelle, GTO, and Roadrunner, but it seems there was one great muscle car that's always forgotten. When you mention AMC to most they will remember the Gremlin, or the Pacer, but they were hardly the best car AMC produced. The AMX was AMCs idea of a muscle car, and it was a great one.

Arriving in 1968, it was a bit late to the party, but it had a presence with it's long hood, two doors, and of course it was a fastback, and unlike other muscle carsof the time it had a short wheelbase. It had everything you wanted in the appearance of a muscle car, but how about the go. Well, you had 4 options for engines the 290ci, 343ci, 360ci, and 390ci. The one you wanted was the 390 V8, and in the 1969 SS it produced 340 HP.

Sadly, the AMX only lasted for 3 years, but in that short time it became a legend. It's not remembered like other muscle cars, but it's still an icon to me.
