Using Steemit's Blockchain concept in my workplace (Daily Vlog #46)
As I learn more about Steemit and it's Blockchain possibilities and potential uses, I'm finding more and more ways to use the overall concept of Steemit and decentralisation in day to day life.
The company I work for has been going through a rough time in the last few months, after having their best year in the 30+ year history of the company last year, it is now going through one of the most testing periods.
I feel like I have a lot to offer in a time where the bosses are struggling to find solutions with the troubles we are having with quality, complacency and mistakes on a large scale.
After seemingly exhausting all options with repeated troubles, I feel that it's time for the company to sort of spread the accountability as well as give everyone an equal share of opportunity to offer ideas to bring the whole operation back to a winning race.
I expressed some ideas last year when I noticed things were in need of repair but because I am not in a position of direct authority, I was sort of shut down. But I'm a stubborn soul.
At the end of the day, it is my career that pays the bills and allows me to live the life that I do, so I feel a responsibility to protect that, along with my fellow workers.
So I've been looking for inspiration, finding a huge amount of it here on Steemit, and it's various platforms and it hit me. If a platform this size can successfully operate in so many different ways by being run by it's users equally. Why can't a smaller business find a similar success in using the same concept with it's employees?
My point exactly.
Tomorrow I will be speaking to my bosses about the idea, so we'll see how it goes, but I honestly think that allowing the many employees of the company to monitor each other and follow a similar suit to upvote desirable actions or workflow, downvote potential risks and bad habits, it should theoretically take care of efficiency problems with a while company working to run a sustainable network. And I think it's a perfect solution. Plus, by the general workers taking care of their own quality control and personal ratings, it takes stress off the bosses in a way that the company would self sustain and improve from within it's own core.
Any ideas or points you can help me with in this proposal to my bosses is more than welcome!
Wish me luck tomorrow!

yes there was a tv series years ago, I am not sure if it was based in the USA called something like trouble at the top, and this guy would go into failing companies and try and turn them around. He would always speak to the workers to get to the route of the problem
I think I remember that show! You’re totally right though, everyone in a business knows something and has an opinion, I think it’s key to swim through the various ideas and potentially discover a successful one.
I've been involved with companies in the past that were based on what was called a peer review system. Employees were "evaluated" by their peers and scored anonymously. It had it's benefits and it's negatives, but I think in certain circumstances, it can work.
Thanks for sharing Bob! I’ll look into that actually. I mean, my company does run well, but I feel for them to avoid further set backs, a certain level of this type of system would help everyone strive to a similar goal. I appreciate you giving me some insight!
good idea, hope they listen to your idea. The workers are usually the people that have a greater understanding of the issues affecting efficiency etc, trouble is in my experience the bosses rarely listen to those doing the job preferring instead to think they know more
Yeah I agree! Being in the main workflownof the company, the workers see common issues daily and usually have a good insight to overcome them, but when the bosses don’t see it, it kills motivation dramatically. So here’s to hoping they might just want to hear a new opinion! Thanks for stopping by!
I 100% know what you're suggesting, Tim. YOU NEED A GOLD STAR STICKER SYSTEM, hahaha.
I dunno, it's too early to tell if a upvote/downvote system works. I do like jobs that give commission if you make certain sales.
Yeah, growth is only good if you can handle it. If not it might be better to stay small but keep the qualitiy level high. I like your idea of an upvote / downvote system for work quality in a company I just think it’s hard how to exactly implement it.
I have already heard about companies which pay bonuses to their employees for suggesting good ideas or for a low percentage of sick days for example.
I wish you all the success. I share with you my article https://steemit.com/literature/@dacamero/if-you-answer-yes-to-these-5-questions-you-are-a-workaholic
Congrats for the 400 subs Tim 😉 You deserve way more. I hope everything start improving in the business. Lets us know if they run your system and how are the results. :)
