Update Your CCleaner – Piriform's Popular Product Contains Malware
CCleaner v5.33, downloaded from Piriform's (Avast) own servers has contained a botnet malware for a period of time. Updating to the latest version solves the problem.
CCleaner is a popular software that deletes junk files on PC. It's downloaded more than 2 billion times.
The attackers have used that trust and popularity to infect users' computers.
Interesting fact, that CCleaner is developed by Piriform whose owner is Avast Software, a cybersecurity software company.
Good news: only the 32 bit version affected and the issue could be solved with updating to the latest version.
