Say Hello to my best friend!
My Dog
This is my dog, and she is my best friend. My fiancee found her on the Indian reservation out side of Phoenix, AZ. When this dog came into my life she was already about 2 yrs old and was in pretty bad shape. She had all kinds of problems with her health, and it took quite a bit of work to get her healthy again. I took her to the vet to get checked out, and they suggested that she would need quite a few shots to fix some of the issues with her. I really did not have the money to do everything that was suggested, but I just knew I had do something for her. From the moment we met, me and her had a bond, I know this may sound corny to some but it is true. It really is an awesome felling when you connect with an animal on this level. So when I was told that she needed these shots I made it happen.
Her Name Was Baka!
About a year before Freya came into my life, I had another dog named Baka. I loved that dog with all my heart, and she loved me. Baka was such a good dog, so friendly! She was a pug and made the funniest noises, and had the sweetest energy. I was and still am very bonded to Baka, and I miss her so much. Shit I'm having a hell of a time writing this post. I didn't think doing this would bring up this level of emotion! See I had to put down Baka because she fell very ill, she was fine one day and then just like that she was too ill to fix. I will always remember the day I had to hold her in my arms as the doctor put her to sleep. She was a such a strong dog, and did not even show signs of a problem till it was too late. I write this part of the post, so that others might learn from my mistake. If you get your pet checked regularly you might be able to avoid mt mistake. I feel guilty that I was not vigilant in checking the health of my friend. I don't plan on making that mistake again, and that is why I felt I had do what ever I could to get Freya healthy again. I feel so sad at this point cause I just realized, I don't even have a picture of Baka. See I can picture her in my head anytime I want, so I never thought about having a picture until now. I will put some pictures of a pugs so you can get an idea of what she looked like.
A Healthy Tank Named Freya!
After Baka died, I swore I would never get another dog again. Like I said I felt guilty about not checking Bakas health, and I felt like I was not responsible enough to have a pet. That ended up not being the case, the bond when I saw this pit bull was strong, and I knew this dog needed my help. Freya has been with me now for about two and a half years maybe three and she is doing great. She still has a few issues left that I'm working on but all in all she is a tank. My past experience has taught me to stay vigilant even though she may seem to be strong, to get her checked out. I make sure she does not eat anything she is not suppose to as well. She has allergies to many different things, I have to buy certain types of food and treats or she breaks out in a rash and bumps. I recently learned that the water from the faucet is no good for her as well, I have to use bottled or purified water or else she throws up from time to time. I never thought I would be giving purified water to a dog. lol. We play outside in the backyard, she likes to attack my feet and I try teach her to defend against a kick. I like to think I am teaching my dog how to defend herself if she needed to against a martial artist. I have been doing martial arts for some time now, and we play fight. We both get a good workout in the process and no one gets hurt as well. She has excellent control of her bite, and I'm not shabby either with the control of my kicks and punches. I have to say it really is a fun game we play.
