5 Proofs You're in Cambodia😀

in #steemitfamilyph8 years ago (edited)

Cambodia will always have a place in my heart. It's a beautiful place on its own. It truly is A Kingdom of Wonder.

Here are five things that always makes me smile about Cambodia.

1. Exotic Food

Deep fried crickets. Snake on a stick. Cockroaches in a pan. These are the normal street food in Cambodia.

Oh, and maybe some people are fond of eating raw veggies but me...nu-uh... Raw eggplant, cabbage, herbal leaves, you name it, most people eat them raw. I swear, you can hear the crunch when they bite. Haaaha

2. "Tuk-tuk and Moto"

You will find yourself bargaining with tuk tuk drivers and motodrivers all the time. The fare is also significantly high once you start speaking in English. That's just how it is.

Overload? No helmets? A normal sight.😬

3. The "S" Deficiency

I was told they dont have "S" sound in their language. This is why most Cambodians are having difficulty saying words with the sound.

I usually train my students 2-3 times a term. I use the words socks, boxes, shoes and fox. It will come out as sock, bak, shoe, and my gosh you can imagine what they keep on saying with the last word. I imagined, if the manager walked in on me with my students saying that, I'm done. Haaaha

4. Snatchers

Aaahh, snatchers are everywhere. And usually they are riding in motorcycles. So never, ever bring out your fancy phones when you're riding in public transport. You never know when they'll sneak up on you.

These are my bruises from snatchers myself. I was walking, so, the injuries were tolerable and not too bad, but I was still dragged a few meters on the street, 30 seconds away from my rental house. Huh! But others had it worst, some even got hospitalized because of the bastards.😡

5. Temples and Beaches.

Well, I was saving the best for last. Their Angkor Wat Temple is magnificent and flocked by tourist. It's a very sacred and beautiful place. But, it's one in a million chance to get a photo of you alone. I managed to get one but only because it was raining. Haha

And the beaches are great too! They have secluded islands where you can sleep near the beach in huts, party-all-night, eat delicious seafoods and just walk along white, sandy shores.
