sleepy southern elephant seal
This photo I truly love and its the first one I have ever taken of an elephant seal, which reminds me of this day on the beach with a few massive seals. The small zodiac made it to shore and I jumped out and started to set up the landing site, which basically consists of me placing small red flags that acts as borders instructing people not to go past them. After that was done, I looked up and what I thought was two huge boulders was actually two elephant seals napping right next to my gear.
the little guy lifted his head and opened his eyes. Most probably wondering what was that noise, he stared deeply into my eyes and soul, he blinked a few times, then slowly closed his eyes and laid his head back down on the ground. I was lucky enough to have my camera out with my telephoto lens (100-400mm) to grab this pic just before he laid his head back down to nap a bit longer.
