Suggestion to PDFCreator

Components

The component I want to suggest here is to add PDFcreator a feature that it can display some important details upon converting files to PDF format.

PDFCreator is a software that can create a PDF file. It does not only create, it also converts word or other file to PDF format. This software is free to use and can be downloaded over the internet. Converting files is easy in PDFCreator, just select the file and then convert.

But, there are some features that I want to add in PDFCreator to improve more. These additional features will display the essentials details of file to convert.

Proposal

What I am proposing here is to add these features;

1. Display file size for file to convert.
2. Display the expected number of pages after it convert.
3. Display the expected running time when converting.

For file size

it gives the user a direct information on file size without looking at the properties of the file.

Number of pages

It gives the user an idea of number of pages the file will be after it converts. Users can also compare the number of pages before and after it converts and gives the assurance that the file is not scrambled or disturbed after converting.

Running time

It gives the user an insights on how long does the conversion will take.

Mockups / Examples

Here are the example on how the suggestion will work.

This is the current environment of PDFCreator before converting. It says choose a file to convert, we will choose a file from our drive to convert.

After choosing the file, a dialog box will appear. It contains some details of file, format to convert, destination of file after saving.

If the suggestion will be implemented, this is how it look like.

After that, click the save button to convert and save the file. On the process on converting and saving, a countdown or time remaining will display.

Benefits

Here are the benefits if implemented;

1. Users will know how long it takes the conversion.
2. Users will know the expected number of pages after conversion. Users can compare the pages before and after to ensure is has the same content.
3. Users will have a instant information on the file size before converting.
