Immurement: Humanity’s Lowest Moment
This photo from the Albert Kahn Collection, titled “ Mongolian prisoner in a box,” shows a horrible form of capital punishment known as immurement (Latin “im” meaning “in” and “mūrus” meaning “wall”). It was practiced in Mongolia as recently as the beginning of the 20th century. This particular image was taken in July, 1913 and is of a Mongolian woman imprisoned in a wooden crate in a remote part of the desert. She was imprisoned and condemned to death by starvation as punishment for adultery.
Immurement involves placing prisoners within an enclosed space that does not have any exits (i.e., coffins, wooden boxes, etc.). These prisoners are shut in for life, some of whom do not even see the light of day except for a couple seconds when food is thrown to them through a small hole. The enclosed spaces are so small that the prisoner is unable to sit upright or lie down.

That is truly horrific
oh that is one of the most cruelest and slowest and painful ways to die and for what a natural feeling called lust which means nothing.what do they do with a true crime.i was saddened by this picture .evil psychopaths the ones that are doing the punishing have no feelings, how can they.
I agree, it's absolutely inhumane & I can't believe it even existed! I believe that--thankfully--this practice has stopped in recent years
i'm glad to hear that ,it was so inhumane.
i have upvoted and shared your post, hopefully it will wake people up to the fact ,that the people in power are the psychopaths, especially in britain and america only they don't show you what is going on ,but the truth is there if you look for it.WAKE UP
Thanks for your support
I have followed you ,hope you will follow me .
To say that the punishment doesn't fit the crime is a HUGE understatement in this case...so sad.
Agreed, it's so sick
I've seen you do very good post congratulations, follow me and help me please
That is unbelievable. The term "The good old days" when everything was better. Ya right the past is so full of darkness, I'm glad we live in a better age.
Same same. Society, justice, & technology has advanced so exponentially in recent years that I can't even begin to imagine what life was like during those dark times...all I can say is that I'm thankful I didn't have to go through it!
