Five Minute Meditation Part One
We often complain about not having enough time in the day and very often that’s true. Between work and home and all points in between, we’re lucky if we get enough time to sleep let alone do anything enriching for the soul. That’s why we are posting these short meditation instructions as they can be super helpful in helping you to disrupt you own (often repetitive and unconstructive) thought patterns, giving you some time and space to breathe (literally!) and helping you to invite the same kind of space and awareness into other areas of your life.
The best part is they really do only take five minutes - and can be done anywhere. That’s right, this is a meditation you can at work, at home, during your commute, out socialising…. really, anywhere.
It’s very simple so lets get started…
Step 1
Stand up straight with your feet facing forward (keep your feet no more than the width of your hips apart)
Step 2
Hold your hands in the Cosmic Mudra so that they rest just below the navel
Step 3
Look straight ahead without tensing your neck or head
Step 4
Breathe fully and deeply into your stomach, in… and out
Step 5
Keep up the breathing and gently shut your eyes
Step 6
Bring your awareness to your breathing, following the gentle expansion and depression of your stomach
Step 7
Slowly pull your awareness into the space between your eyes. Then draw it to a point directly above, into the forehead; as if your focus is at the top of a triangle and your eyes are the lower corners
Step 8
Continue to breathe whilst keeping your awareness in the central point above and between the eyes
Whilst you do this, your thoughts will come and go. Allow them to flow through you freely; there is no need to pay any of them any attention - no matter how urgent or pressing they seem. You can get back to thinking and acting on them very soon.
If you attention does drift, gently bring it back to where it was.
That’s it. Continue for five minutes. Do it every day.
When the time’s up, slowly open your eyes - and then get on with your day.

Nice post! I'm a regular meditator but have never tried standing meditation! Maybe I'll give it a go!
