It is Saturday morning, and while some people are recovering from last night and curing their hangovers, others are down to research. So, what is the research for today? Let’s keep up with the drinking theme and focus on the 5 countries that rock in drinking this golden liquid – beer.

Czech Republic

With staggering 23 years of stable first place, this small country in the heart of Europe is nowhere near to let other countries to catch up. Average person drinks 142,6l per year – and this is including infants and elderly. Therefore, the real consumption can easily go up to 0,5l per day per person. With the average price of $1 per 0,5l across the country and $2 per 0,5l in Prague, there is no wonder. In many places, beer is cheaper than water!

Seychelles

For many, this is rather surprising result. With approximately 90 thousand inhabitants spread across 115 islands, the annual average consumption is 114,6l per person. The stores are allowed to sell alcohol only from 11am to 9pm. However, many islanders brew their own beer as it is a long-time tradition. And guess who blasts the statistics for this country? You are wright, the tourists!

Austria and Germany

Located around Czech Republic, these two countries average with 104l of beer per person. Compared to Czech Republic, legal drinking age for beer begins with 16th birthday. The association of beer and Germany is strong, who doesn’t know about Oktoberfest? During this festival, the visitors drink staggering 6,9 million litres of beer.

Belgium, my people.

BELGIUM.

Belgium is huge for beer, yet apparently much more responsible when drinking. However, I am going to get to Belgium when I look into craft beer for sure, because Belgium rocks in variety!

I am particularly fond of strong 7% - 9% blonde beers!

Last time visiting I got caught up by lambic beers, something I have not heard of before and needs more attention. Cheers mate!
