Today It's Midsommar (Midsummer) In Sweden! Time To Celebrate!steemCreated with Sketch.

Few countries celebrate something similar to Midsummer. But in Finland, Juhannus is celebrated and in Denmark and Norway one celebrates St. Hans day.

In Sweden, the most common celebration of midsummer is linked to dancing around a midsummer rod - a leafy and flower-wound rod or pile, either in the form of a cross with wreaths hanging from cross-country or one or more larger wreaths hanging in strips and wrapping the pile.

Having a flower wreath in the hair is common during Midsummer, mainly among children and women. You can tie them with birch or steel wire as a base and add leaves and flowers.

In Midsummer, it is common in Sweden to eat food sauce, sour cream and chives, fresh potatoes and strawberries for dessert. Midsummer is largely associated with just the fresh potato, which is usually served with dill. Many drink snaps to the food.

In the past there was also a tradition to go out on the midsummer morning and roll around the nude in the wet daylight. This is to be healthy during the fall and winter.

Linked to Midsummer, there is also a strong tradition of alcohol consumption in connection with the celebration, which makes Midsummer weekend one of the times of the year when most fuss and noise occur. The very busy journey around the weekend, as many start their holiday, make the weekend one of the most trafficked victims.

The most common birthday in Sweden is March 22 - if you count nine months back in time you almost end up in the midsummer week ...

Happy midsummer to all Steemers!
