Hello everyone,

It is a chlorophyll plant native to South Africa. It comes from the Greek word hydnon, meaning "truffles". It belongs to the family of single angiosperm plants that do not contain any leaves or scales. The plant is only seen when the tips of the flowers protrude from the ground. It develops below the soil surface. The plant is harvested from nature for local use as a source of food, medicine and tannins.

Diarrhea, dysentery, kidney and bladder complaints have all been treated with infusions and decoctions of the herb. Infusions used as face wash soap also treat acne.
