Clearly, no one is sure where exactly the base line begins or ends. But that's ok. No one wants to ruin that entertainment with something as silly as rules.
She could have run off, jumped the fence, gone into witness protection, and then crawled back into the stadium years later under cover of darkness to touch home plate. What difference does it make?
