RE: Little Falls and a Devil's Wall, An Autumn Hike in Hector (with poetry)

in #travel5 years ago

That little stream is enchanting! This trail looks like my kind of place, with its little stream and old forgotten stone walls, it stirs the curiosity. I've always been attracted to such creeks, I could sit there all day watching the ripples, gazing into the deep parts.

Sort:

That old wall was once part of a bridge, a portion of the path we walked was once a road, we found a pit where a basement used to be and along the old road someone planted sugar maples, there's more than a dozen. I'm thinking about learning how to tap those trees next year! I love these kinds of places too, and Howie's really good at finding the best spots. When you do make that trip up here, you'll have to stay a good long while so we can show you all the sights :)

I liked that little hand-stacked section of wall that is nearly lost under the leaves in the pictures too, it's always intriguing to imagine who might have tried to settle and develop the wilderness so long ago. It is going to have to be an extended visit! I'm just recently learning of all the accounts of giants up in NY, and they even named one of their sports teams after them.
