I Really Eat Like a King Around Here- Tonight; Thai Green Curry and Brown Rice

in #blog6 years ago

Since I was able to grow some Thai basil this year in the garden, I can now give my curry that authentic 'Thai restaurant' flavor.

I chopped a large handful of these basil leaves into the pan, making the green curry VERY green!

I also found a couple of extremely red cayenne peppers out in the garden, screaming to be picked, so I took out the seeds, chopped them into the pan, and forgot about them temporarily.

So it's a can of coconut milk, handful of fresh chopped basil leaves, some ginger root and chopped garlic, a couple of green onions, an islander bell pepper, a carrot, a couple tbsps green curry paste, salt and ground white pepper, all simmered for as long as it takes the rice to cook.

I tried it, and immediately remembered; I had chopped two fresh cayenne peppers into this batch!

The heat-level was actually perfect, and so it is: two fresh chopped cayenne peppers for a very spicy Thai curry!

To pluck curry leaves from own garden is an awesome feelings.Yes,you are really live like a king in your castle dear, enjoying such a healthy food.

Yes I'm happy to have grown this kind of basil this year.

That looks sumptuous! Thanks for sharing your recipe. I am definitely going to try it! You should join the fun at #FoodFightFriday!

I'm probably going to take some of this with me tomorrow for lunch, but now I'm stuffed! I'll have to check out the food fight then, thanks!

According to experts, some of the possible benefits of this curry include helping with prevention of cancer, Alzheimer’s symptoms, reduction in the risk of heart disease, and boosted immune and bone function to name a few. Nice recipe 'love' it.

Thanks for that info! Now please tell me you're not really a robot, or I'm going to feel silly for replying.

That looks fantastic. Since Howie bugs me quite a bit to make a good curry I will definitely be trying it out ;)

This has been a good year for basil, I've got tons of sweet basil growing, and these two bushes of Thai basil have changed my world-- hopefully you can find a market that carries it, and ginger root. Don't be stingy with the ginger, it is one of the main flavors I think.

Wow! Interesting...
I always leave the seeds in nowadays. I mean, I clean and chop the peppers but then I put the seeds back in - I love their texture, little bursts of yummy-ness. In curry, chili (red and green) and also black bean soup. Something I discovered by accident years ago having missed a few and then eating them anyway, how much I liked them.

I'm not sure why I take the seeds out of cayennes, probably habit from when I dry them in the winter, I de-seed them so that they grind up solid red I suppose.

What the! I just had Thai Green Curry last night! But, it isn't that fresh. The leaves look awesome, brother! I could keep staring at that the whole day!

These basil bushes are impressive indeed. When they were tiny sprouts, I managed to smell one of the leaves, and knew that I had found that critical flavor for those Thai dishes I'd been trying to make.

It looks healthy and delicious. The best of both worlds. Perhaps healthier than a king. Thanks @therealpaul.

It is both, and a rare combination, but is a dish suited for the gods, and just a few kings.

Healthier than a king... is it just me, or is there something off about that phrasing?
Are we eating said king, to get such awe-inspiring health benefits? I was unaware that cannibalism was so healthy, I'll have to try it sometime.

Just kidding. I've obviously already tried it, though never with a king... mmm, such a feast. Got any recommendations on which to try?

What was the taste?

The ginger and basil with green curry paste seemed to be the things that made everything else so edible.

Living life like king size delicious dishes to enjoy too good :D
