He was born on October 21, 1833 in Stockholm. he do your primary school study in St. Petersburg, Russia, city to which your family had emigrated in 1842.
In 1850 he traveled to Paris (France) and later to (United States), countries in which he perfected his technological knowledge. On his return to St. Petersburg, he worked in his father's factory until his bankruptcy in 1859.
He returned to Sweden in 1863, completing there the investigations he had started in the field of explosives:
In 1863 he managed to control by means of a detonator the explosions of nitroglycerin, initially invented by the Italian Ascanio Sobrero.
In 1865 he perfected the system with a mercury detonator.
In 1867 he created Dynamite, a plastic explosive resulting from absorbing nitroglycerin in a solid porous material, which reduced the risk of accidents, the accidental explosions of nitroglycerin, one of which had killed his brother Emil and other people, had aroused strong criticism of Nobel and his discoveries.
With his brothers Ludwig (1831-88) and Robert (1829-96), he perfected the distillation of oil and exploited the Russian deposits of Baku.
Later he created Balistita, one of the first smokeless gunpowder.
For all this, Nobel accumulated an enormous wealth (calculated at around 33,000,000 crowns), but also a certain feeling of guilt for the evil and destruction that his inventions could have caused to humanity.
Nobel I read, spoke and wrote in five languages fluently: English, French, Swedish, Russian, and German.
Alfred Nobel died of a heart attack in San Remo, Italy, on December 10, 1896.
In his testament signed on November 27, 1895 at the Swedish-Norwegian Club of Paris, he established with his fortune a fund to reward the best exponents in Literature, Physiology or Medicine, Physics, Chemistry and Peace. A part of his fortune he delegated to his family 100,000 crowns, the rest 32,900,000 went to The Nobel Prizes .
