Friends, New Athenians, Countrymen,

The New Athens is a blockchain foundation based in London. We are delighted to join the Steemit blockchain. Welcome to our new Steemit blog. It is now far too clear with widespread anti-free speech deplatforming purges that censoring #bigtech platforms will have to be disrupted, disintermediated, and democratised as the blockchain revolution continues, but for now we are aiming insofar as we can to port our posting from #fakebook:

to more neutral platforms like SmartCityStates.io on Wordpress which have thus far protected their users from anti-free speech deplatforming purges;
to more decentralised platforms like @TheNewAthens on Steemit;
and ultimately to The New Athens' own blockchain platform when it is ready.

I received the email screencapped below this morning only cementing in my mind the need to disrupt social media with the blockchain revolution to create #citizenmedia. Fortunately we have not been directly censored yet, but we must stand in solidarity with those who have been purged. The blockchain revolution is still in its infancy and needs all the help it can get. One of the hacks we found at The New Athens was to invite all our friends to a facebook group which reached a high of 3,000 members. Facebook groups, until now, were opt-out, i.e. the invitation would not ask whether you wanted to accept membership, but would automatically make you a member until you said otherwise. This allowed our posts on facebook to reach a much wider audience at an earlier stage.

all our feedback has been v. positive and as a channel it seems people see The New Athens' posts as much if not more than my personal posts on Laurenzo William Mefsut.

#fakebook is not a "neutral public forum" as lying #MarkSucknfuck prevaricated over in the Senate Hearing to Ted Cruz when he mischaracterised fakebook as a "platform for all ideas" in response to the direct question, 'are you a first amendment speaker expressing your views, or are you a neutral public forum allowing everyone to speak?'

In that spirit, please help say a big #fuckyouverymuch to MarkSucknfuck for ruining facebook group membership by promoting our The New Athens facebook group and inviting your friends to join.

By way of further introduction, I am Laurenzo Mefsut, founder of The New Athens. Our purpose is to build The Blockchain Republic, combining the best that has been thought and said, ancient and modern — #antiquitech and #blockchain tech — two sides of the same bitcoin, into a democratic forum to value the True, the Beautiful, and the Good.

Our first task in 2019 is to build a cryptocurrency exchange platform, from which we intend to launch our own cryptocurrencies and, ultimately, our SmartCityStates.io Blockchain Republic, modelled on the direct democratic institutions of Ancient Athens. We are currently in the process of identifying a friendly jurisdiction to host our cryptoexchange. Suggestions welcome.

Laying the groundwork for this purpose, we are publishing various original papers on blockchain theory, the first of which is The Blockchain as DNA for Civilisation.
