Hey there!!

What a beautiful morning!

It’s been a pretty nice day too. The sun is shining bright, and even though the air is a little chilly, the wind is nowhere near as bad as it was.

The animals all seem pretty thrilled to have access to open water again. Though most of it is iced over again now.

The neighbour cats and our feral stray (that boy clearly needs a name 🤔 maybe Ned) all make their way down for a drink in the morning, they seem to prefer it.
I gave the stray a big fright this morning when I went to feed the ducks. Poor guy.

The ducks still haven’t given me any eggs. I feel like I should cut down some of the trees around their house, there’s a few big ones that block much of the light their pen would get during the day. Maybe more sunshine will help with egg production.

It’s a shame though, because a few of the trees I’m thinking of cutting are not the common black spruce that grow literally everywhere here, at least one or two are something different with actual leaves.

The birch I’ll leave alone no matter what.

There used to be a great stand of birch here, we had some issues many years ago, I can’t recall what it was now, but nearly all of them were gone. They’ve been making a comeback though and I'm happy to have a decent line of them in the back of the house, plus random ones here and there.

Earl found what he thought was a perfect place to sit. He was quite comfortable, totally oblivious to my possible dismay.

As long as you’re comfortable buddy... 🤪

Of course the main rule with feral (or semi feral) cats is we don’t shout at them, not ever. For one it’s pointless, shouting at cats in general, and for two it just frightens them. Doesn’t necessarily teach them anything except to be more fearful.

With Earl it’s just a matter of calmly walking toward him and saying, “you’re not allowed up there honey,” with a big smile, and give him the slightest gesture to move and he’s off running.

I found something to at least discourage the attempts the cats have made trying to “help” by hatching my seeds for me.

I have a few new projects that are coming along, some I started on my own and also some new orders I’m trying to get done as fast as possible.

I’m having a terrible time shipping things these days. Very frustrating. No mail in or out for nearly a week now. The usual reason, “because Covid.”

And the cost of some items is outrageous.

My cute little packages, if sent out alone or in a regular sized envelope, would be at LEAST $23. 😱
Simply because of the thickness.

If I instead chose a much, much bigger rectangular flat rate box it would be like $5 less than that. Makes zero sense.
But really, what DOES make sense these days? 😂

Cats make sense.

This is the cat that lives at the post office.

He’s waiting for me (or anyone) to dare put their fingers on the counter so he can smack them. He didn’t use his nails though.

He looks so much like my Klaus!

This was my boy in his prime.

Klaus is now 14 years old, 15 this spring! He had some stomach problems a couple years ago which caused him to lose a ton of weight, he has never really gotten back to his plump self, so he’s a skinny, old man version of this huge younger boy.

Plus Klaus now has a “cauliflower ear.” He tried to steal food from a feral rescue kitten I was fostering and she smacked him. So then he tried again. And the next time she caught him in the ear with her claw. Rushed him to the vet first thing in the morning because it had begun to swell. It kept filling with blood and was a real problem to get it to heal. After I got it fully drained, it dried out, it shrivelled up, and the ear never looked the same again.

He looks so much different now!

Probably about a ten year difference in the two photos.

This is a new wall hanging I started, no doubt the shipping will be a billion freakin dollars. Maybe someone local will be interested instead! 😆

I think it will be really cool once I’m done!

One of my custom orders will be utilizing these colours and I’m super excited! It’s gonna look beautiful!

I collected a bag of lovely weathered sticks from around the property. They’ll be perfect for projects like this one.

Pretty good and productive Monday for me! Great start to the week. Bring on the workload! The busier I am, the less I waste time thinking about things I have no control over.
Because if I can change it, I will, and if I can’t change it, then what am I upset about? Nothing I can do! 😋
