Introducing Myself: Tears of Joy
Last week, I cried. I cried tears of joy!
Let me tell you the story why...
Source: I took this picture on a road trip through Portugal, 4 years ago. A mural painting in Setúbal, Portugal. I'm guessing this was inspired by the Troika and the IMF offering bailout money to Portugal.
But first, some other information:
I joined Steemit about 9 months ago
I did a little marketing campaign for Steemit here in Lisbon, Portugal
I got turned off a bit by Steemit because of the 100% inflation rate and the 2 year power down time
With the latest hardforks, those specs have now been changed, so I am coming back on the Steemit platform.
Now here is my story!
I graduated from university in 2008, at the same time as the world was being hit by the financial crisis. I was living in Paris at that time, and I remember telling people that "this type of crisis usually only lasts about 2 years."
But then I realized I was actually talking out of my ass. I didn't understand the financial crisis, so how would I know how long it would last?
That day I decided to start studying economics in more detail. I wanted to understand why this financial crisis happened.
And boy, it has been an interesting subject to study!
I started understanding economics better
I realized that money is created out of thin air by the banks and that all fiat money is someone being in debt.
How fucked up is that? Pardon my French.
I started getting interested in Monetary Reform
I began realizing why holding precious metals is important
I found out about Bitcoin and later on other cryptocurrencies, and it got me hooked
Now last week I cried, I cried tears of joy
I seriously did!
Seeing Bitcoin go over $2000, Ethereum over $150 and Steemit over $1 again.
It seems like cryptocurrencies are going to go mainstream.
I now have several friends of mine making money blogging on Steemit and getting interested in cryptocurrencies. And I can now upvote their content using the Steemit website, while being on the bus.
Web 3.0, anyone?
Congrats to @bensson and @mirjamsvideos
Powered by a blockchain... How amazing is that!
We finally have the tools available to step away from the evil debt-based money system that has been ruling the world for the last hundred years.
After almost 10 years of studying economics and money, I think Steemit is one of the most imaginative projects I have ever seen.
This makes me so happy it makes me cry.
Tears of Joy!
I think the time has come where we will see prosperity coming to the world which we have never seen before in our lifetime. This debt-based money has been holding us back and it's time to start using alternatives.
In my next posts, I will go over some books I read that helped me understanding economics, finance, money and other related subjects.
I'm excited! I really am!
Decentralization is coming!
Just because there is no centralized institution in the world that can keep track of this innovation.
For now.
To be continued...
