Groups C & D finish group play

Argentina has shown the full range of emotions throughout group play. There was even a time it looked as if they would not advance.

Messi had struck early with a great break away that lead to his 14th minute goal. The Nigerian's found an equalizer when given a penalty kick on a corner. The game was tied until Argentina managed to regain the lead with an 86th minute goal.

Croatia already had the group won but they completed the sweep by defeating Iceland 2-1. Argentina will advance with Croatia.

France and Denmark drew 0-0 which gave France the group win. Denmark will advance as well.

France will face Argentina in the first round of the Knockout Stage. Croatia will face Denmark.

Half of the groups have finished and we will see groups E & F finish tomorrow. Brazil and Germany have both had their struggles early on and it will be exciting to see how they finish group play. The potential for these two to face each other in the first round of the Knockout Stage is also exciting.

My prediction is for Mexico and Brazil to win their groups with Germany and Switzerland advancing along with them.
