The Stigma of being an Angeleno

in #chainbb-general7 years ago (edited)

Los Angeles is simply a extremely competitive place to live in.

  • We are being portrayed as one of the least friendly people in the country.
  • We have one of the highest tax rates in the country.
  • We are constantly trapped in our cars spending hours just to get to work.
  • We are constantly surrounded by the rich and famous which makes it harder to keep up with the Jones (I personally am not guilty of this).
  • We have one of the most expensive housing markets. The average rent for a 2 bedroom apartment is around $1800-2300 depending on the area. Average home is at least $500,000 even in the worse part of town.
  • Los Angeles is a big international hub so we have a very complex local culture. For any first timers in Los Angeles you are in for a shock.

As you can see, to be an Angeleno isn't easy. Many people come to live in Los Angeles hoping to make it big but reality will hit them like a brick wall. With the same amount of money you would have to spent living in LA you can live like a king in another city. (I say this loosely) Your living standards will go down drastically! Your commute time will double or triple depending on the time which you travel.

So next time when you decide to criticize us just think about what we have to endure! With that being said, Los Angeles is extremely rich in culture. There are plenty of things to do and many places where you can spent your hard earned money. Here are some of the things you can do:

1. Take a nice bike ride down the strands while looking over at the majestic pacific ocean.

2. Go for a nice hike at Griffith Park up to the Griffith Observatory.

3. Spend a nice morning fishing at the pier.

()

4. Hike along LA River to the Marina.

5. Spend a day shopping at Rodeo Drive.

6. If you have convertible you can take a nice drive in Malibu with the top down along PCH (Pacific Coast Highway).

7. Visit movie filming sites.

8. Spend a day at Disneyland/Universal Studio/California Adventures etc.

9. There's always food festivals here.
