Beets, it seemed we always had beets at thanksgiving, I liked the cranberry stuff, but the beets, nope did not like.
That's fair. I think I always wanted to like beets, but couldn't really get the hang of enjoying them. I can eat almost anything, but I don't prefer beets. Give me mashed potatoes and green bean casserole any day. :)

Fruit ketchup. It's popular here. I much prefer pumpkin chutney.
Fruit ketchup? I hadn't heard of that. What dishes do you normally use it on? Toast and breakfast-type foods, or mashed potatoes and turkey? I'm hoping it's the former.
It's an accompaniment to turkey and potatoes, or even the meat pie. It's made with fruits and veggies, tomatoes, yes, onions and celery, and also apples, pears, peaches. It's quite popular in Quebec, but I'm not a fan. I much prefer cranberries, pickles, beats, or stuffing an accompaniment.

I think fruit cake is something that all people should get accustomed to eating. It never expires, and it's loaded with calories. It's the perfect food for getting through any apocalyptic-type events. It sounds like you don't have any, but I'm buying it by the truckload. ;)
We dont do thanks giving over here.... But if its about eating drinking and good times then I'm all for it.

Yeah, I could imagine that you probably don't celebrate it. That's ok though. Americans don't so much take the time to be Thankful for what they have anymore. Instead, they use it as an opportunity to buy a bunch more cheap stuff that they don't need with money that they don't have. It's the opposite of what the holiday was designed to be. Grrr.
I don't really eat Brussels sprouts. I eat broccoli, but no one really makes it for Thanksgiving. We're have a fairly traditional meal. I'll steer clear of the sprouts though... just in case someone happens to make them. :D
To be honest: all the vegetables on the table :)
Even if you are having veggies, Thanksgiving is a once-per-year opportunity, so it's important to make sure that you save room for that dessert! A little turkey, some potatoes, maybe half a roll... but the rest should be for pies! Ha ha.
Like always the dessert the most important and mst difficult of the diner!
The most important one because they can be so darn good!
Difficult because if the other courses were delicious it is sometimes diifficult to have enough room left.
I've had a few Thanksgivings where I ate until it hurt, but lately I've been keeping it under control. Hopefully I'll have a pile of leftovers I can take home. Can't argue with that!
