RE: I Got Flagged Three Times Yesterday. Did You?

The votes that go out that are 0.001 are probably from a curation trail. It helps get votes out and attention to things so hopefully it gets the author more exposure. I don't know if it actually works, but I think that's the idea. I don't know how much curation it gets. I'm definintely not the guy to ask. I get terrible curation. I think I saw somewhere that I got an award for "Worst Curator on Steemit" or something like that. I upvote too many of my friends at 0 minutes so they get extra rewards for their posts. It sucks for the other curators, but that's how I want to play the game. I'd rather reward my friends.

I'd rather not have to worry when I vote. I'd rather the rewards go where they're supposed to go without me waiting around to calculate the exact second it's going to give everyone the most benefit. So, I'm definitely not the guy to ask about any of this at all, which is why I'm glad that there are some people who actually do know something about it and help me understand it so I can still be turned off by it, just for a different reason that actually has knowledge behind it.

I think I saw that award of yours. It was the "Worst Curator On Purpose" award. I got the "Worst Curator Period" award.

I got the "Worst Curator Period" award.

Ha ha ha, that's ok. Steemit hasn't been about curation rewards for quite some time. So I don't even worry about it. I'm with you in that I think that if someone wants to vote on a post, they should do it and it should count. In fact, I think people should be able to set where they want their curation to go. I would just set mine to give it all to the author (that's why I'm voting after all, not to get rewards back) and leave it. Oh well. There would be too much abuse from that. And people all have their alt accounts, so they can just self-reward using those accounts. There's always a way around the system.

Yeah. It's kind of bizarre how we go about doing things that have nothing to do with what it was intended to do. Like curating quality content when really it's about ROI. Or voting for people in your circle, or people you like, as opposed to the post itself.

An option to decide who gets the rewards would be nice. Better, if you couldn't vote for yourself, and even still, if you could only vote once on a post, regardless of how many accounts you had. Just make it so, dang it! Problems solved!

Until they come up with another way to get around it.

On a much lighter note. I just got my fourth flag, from yet another account. $0.00 at 100%.

I don't really care if I vote for people I like. Not every post that every author I follow is going to resound with me, but that's ok. The group of authors that I like I vote for. That's how it is. Most people aren't super into coins, but I still get a lot of votes from the people I started with, presumably because they value me as an author. Also, I try to spread my votes around a lot, so maybe that's a factor. I don't really know. My vote isn't worth much, so who knows?

Hey, congrats on that 4th flag. If you were playing flag football, you'd be doing really well. Four flags is a lot in flag football. :)

If this were flag football, I'd be going for as many flags as humanly possible. I'd be a flag machine.

Well, my vote is worth 2.5 times less than it was before this latest dip, and I'm already voting into tomorrow's rations. :)

I've pretty much come to the conclusion that I can't know why people do anything here, let alone vote for myself. I'd rather they do it and read it and have a conversation with me, but should I be telling them if they don't read and engage, I don't want their vote? Doesn't seem to be smart, beneficial or even making any sense. People have their control over the rewards and I guess they're going to do what they're going to do. I don't need to go around discouraging them or ticking them off.

Not yet, at least. Maybe when I've been around long enough I can let my bad side loose and see what kind of following of evil minions I can create.

Nah. Too much work. :)

I know that feeling. Sorry, I've stopped doing more than initial votes on comments and such because my vote isn't worth a ton. I try to save some VP so when people comment on my post I can give them a little vote. Still, hopefully they use dustsweeper.

Yeah, don't go intentionally pissing people off. If they want to vote for you without commenting or engaging you, that's fine. They just won't get a vote back on their comments.

I try to be nice, but I've thought about what I would do if I had millions of SP. I'd love to encourage some behaviors and discourage others. I'd also like to enable the community leaders more. Think of what a month of dropping huge votes on community leaders would do! :)

I've been thinking about why I do certain things here and I believe it's because I want to have in practice behaviors I will want in place when I do have more to throw around. In other words, if I want to be wealthy, I need to think first and then act like the wealthy. If I want to be generous, then I need to start now. I need to turn away from a scarcity mindset to one of abundance.

I still like the idea of merit, though, so I'm not giving up on that. I'm just establishing the baseline, is what I think I've been doing.

I like that. I try to operate the same way. I don't have billions in the bank, but I do have more than I'll need to get groceries this week. So I give. When I have tons of money (literally tons... of silver. Ha ha) then I'll be a place where I already have the giving habits established. I can do the same here too.
