Hello Everyone!
Today's featured 3D model design is the Icosidodecahedron, a quasiregular polyhedron and is one of the Archimedean Solids formulated by Archimedes himself.
In geometry, an icosidodecahedron is a polyhedron with twenty (icosi) triangular faces and twelve (dodeca) pentagonal faces. An icosidodecahedron has 30 identical vertices, with two triangles and two pentagons meeting at each, and 60 identical edges, each separating a triangle from a pentagon. wikipedia
I'm getting used to designing polyhedron and polygon related bodies lately. It's fun and quite easy to construct and with only 3 or 4 tools you need to use. The only integral factor in creating these solid bodies is to get the correct dihedral angle of its faces. Dihedral angle is the angle between two intersecting planes. It is essential in positioning those polygon into one another without overlapping of planes or vertices.
Process:
Create a regular pentagon and triangle with a measurement of 1 unit on its side. Attach the triangle to the 1 side of the pentagon. Apply region tool to both polygons.

Rotate the triangle at a given dihedral angle of 142.62 degress. In rotating, the reference axis should be on the side of the pentagon.

Apply array tool to the traingle and pick the center of the pentagon as its axis of rotation.

You'll have the figure shown below.

Next is to make a copy of that pentagon you made and apply 3dalign tool to attach it to the main figure.

Then, apply array tool to the pentagon and the axis of rotation should still be at the center part of the subject.

You'll get the figure shown below.

Next is to do the same procedure again for the triangle. Copy, 3dalign and array.

You just have created the half figure of the Icosidodecahedron

Now, to save you some time for the remaining pieces of our subject. you can copy the half figure of Icosidodecahedron and attach both to one another using again our 3Dalign tool.

And now you're done with your Icosidodecahedron, in wireframe and in realistic view as show below.

I'm still looking for ways on how to properly plot an image in atuocad without compromising its quality so that next time, I may be able to give you a high-quality images of those figures. :)
Stay tuned for more 3D Designs.
