Meal in a Box - Asian Beef and Sesame Seed Salad

Saturday evening I decided to once again test the 'Meal in a Box' concept, this time a quick to prepare salad. I will share the recipe and then some pictures of the actual preparation and then the completed dish. I will summarise my conclusions at the end.

Extra Fine Noodles, Asian Sauce, spaghetti'ed carrots, Sesame seeds, Sugar Snaps,1 Red Onion, Purple Cabbage, Mint, Tenderised Steak

Now I can categorically state that I was less than impressed to see 'tenderised' steak. This is not a piece of meat I enjoy cooking with as I find it decidedly tasteless and tough... not tender at all.

I roasted the sesame seed in the wok and removed from the pan to make way for the strips of beef.

Browning the meat was a challenge and I suspect that the meat had been previously frozen hence a large amount of liquid was produced and it was more like 'braising'. While this was going on I hand shredded the mint, sliced the sugar snaps and thinly sliced the onion.

Alongside the braising I prepared the noodles and drained these and set aside.

All that was left to do was assemble the salad and drizzle with the asian sauce, then toss to coat.

Voila....but as my good lady remarked ..'Plated like a true man...no finesse'...Whatever!!!

My thoughts. The concept was sound and overall the taste was awesome ... especially the sugar snaps with the slight chilli bite from the sauce. As I suspected the beef was poor, and I actually just put mine aside and added it to my dog's dinner plate. He rated it at least a 10

Will I buy this particular box again? Probably not. Will I cook an Asian Beef and Sesame seed salad again... definitely, but using a more qulaity cut of meat such as rump steak or fillet.
