Looking beyond the anger of others...

“Keep in mind, hurting people often hurt other people as a result of their own pain. If somebody is rude and inconsiderate, you can almost be certain that they have some unresolved issues inside. They have some major problems, anger, resentment, or some heartache they are trying to cope with or overcome. The last thing they need is for you to make matters worse by responding angrily.” ― Joel Osteen

I have always found this quote to be a great reminder.

I think that as people, we often forget that everybody is travelling their own journey which comes along with its own set of trials and tribulations. We need to remember that when we see them "acting out" - we may not understand the reason behind it or like what we are exposed / subjected to - but this does not mean that we cannot be empathetic towards them.

Should the situation be reversed and we were the ones lashing out because of something underlying that was hurting us, we would want to be treated with compassion and understanding, and not met with more anger...
