Cryptokitties resulting in Eth price drop?

Cryptokitties is the first ever game to be created on the blockchain. In the first week more than $2M was spent in game. People who are familiar with this new game will know that there's several unique kitties, some rare and some basic. Breeding is the only thing you can do in the game, with hopes of creating a rare kitty thats worth a lot of money. Now after a few days or researching and experiencing my own issues, it seems that the entire Etherium network has slowed down tremendously. Is this a result of this new Cryptokitties game? Probably. By the looks of things this new game is growing insanely fast and surprisingly people are willing to drop 7.7ETH for one rare kitty. I think this is stupid. You're gambling your investment and also slowing down the blockchain at the same time. I understand it will level out eventually but a ton of people are stuck dealing with pending transactions all do to this ridiculous game about virtual collectible cats.
