The Menendez Murders

Last night i came across to mini series of Law&Order true crime. I love watching crime shows especially when they're based on true stories. Probably most of you know about Menendez Brothers who killed their family after years of abuse 'with their words' where i believe it's completely true.

Two brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez were living with their father and mother in their huge Beverly Hill mansion. Their father Jose Menendes was a Cuban-American business man who's very wealthy.

Firstly Erik and Lyle was living with their family in Calabasas, California but after the brothers were caught burglarizing houses, they moved to Beverly Hills where all families lives turn around to other way. Jose was an abusive father where even for giving lesson to his sons, he wanted to remove them from his will. But the thing is it was not the his only abusive behavior through his kids.

On August 20, 1989 Lyle called 911 with very concerned voice for reporting his dad and mum was murdered. Indeed very strange times started after this call. Erik was hysterical and upset a lot for some time while Lyle seemed so strong and said this would be his father will. The both boys were constantly talking about actually their mother didn't deserve it but when it comes to their dad, he was an abusive man which his death led to his mums death either.

After a few months of murders Lyle and Erik started to use their fathers money by buying expensive watches, cars and living the luxury where they couldn't find in their familys time. Erik was hoping to be an professional tennis player while Lyle was having time with his girlfriend and trying to build new business empire.

Of course detectives were finding all of this very suspicios but strange thing is the case was solved after Erik's pscyhiatrist mistress went to polis to annoy her boyfriend. In his bad times Erik was confessing him and his brothers crime to his psychiatrist where he recorded everything and his mistress heard it. When the menendez brothers got arrested, the real problem in the family came out painfully.

Everything came out clearly when Erik confessed how his father was sexually abusing him from his childhood time and when his cousin confirmed it as a wittness to the situation. Later than Lyle accepted he was abused by his family too and when it comes to a situation where both brothers can't handle this anymore, they just murdered their father and mother brutally and tried to show it as burglars.

Eventhough their lawyers tried to defence them by showing this case the result after many years of abuse, brothers got lifetime prison in jail without a chance of parole.

In my opinion Erik's words explain this situation better.

''I didn't want my parents to die, i just wanted abuse to stop''
