Oddities

I like the unexpected little oddities that sometimes present themselves in life. Some of these might also be amusing to some of you, and they will likely give insight into how my twisted little mind works.

🧐 A Visit from a President

One day, I stepped out onto the patio behind the house, took one look, and my jaw dropped. Do you see it? Do you see him? Look closely before scrolling down!

It appears Teddy Roosevelt, former President of the US, paid me a visit! 😊

🙀 Lurking

Several years ago, I got a new cellphone and returned home with it. I got comfy by putting on my nightgown and curled up on the sofa to familiarize myself with the phone's features. I idly pointed the camera down towards my lap and snapped a shot, expecting to see nothing more than some random folds of light-and-shadow from the fabric of my nightgown. When I examined the photo in my camera-phone, I was shocked. Scream with me when you see it. 😱

👸 Keep Calm and...

In our back yard is a gap between two outbuildings, from which trees in the neighbor's back yard may be seen. To me, it appears that one tree has grown a "crown" of leaves!

So, in honor of those pre–World War II posters that have become common memes today, I created this:

🐻 Zombie Bear

A few years ago, I returned to my elderly parents' house to help them as they had developed too many health issues and everyday challenges to make it on their own any longer. After I had been here for three years, a hard rain uncovered a small white bear. It was either a toy or a puzzle-piece which had belonged to my brother when he was a child. So, the bear was buried and rose to life again... 😂

🌞 Antique Light Switch

I stayed a few days with a friend who was renting a very old house. It had different style light switches in some of the rooms, the likes which I'd never seen before! They were made long ago by General Electric (GE) and were rotary ("twist action") 2-position switches. And painted pink! I could not determine with certainty how old this switch is, but competitors to General Electric were making similar switches in the late-1800s through the early-1900s. ⚡️

👻 We Don't Go Down There

While visiting the same friend who lived in the old house, I saw a door across from the kitchen and asked her what was behind that door. She replied, "We don't go down there." I had to really press her for several minutes before she finally admitted that it was a "very scary basement" and that I could go down there if I dared. LOL! Of course, I did, and it was a dark, damp basement with a dirt floor, but hey... no axe-murderers or anything like that. 😬

👗 The Mannequin

I briefly shared a house one time with a mannequin. A very dear friend of mine came to visit for a few weeks. She sells womens' wear online as her job, so she brought one of her mannequins so she could continue photographing and posting merchandise while she was visiting. How many people can say they had a mannequin as a house guest? I must admit, she was very quiet and well-behaved. 😁 ...and rather shapely, too! 😍 #boobsforwitty

⚔️ Crossed Swords Razors

There was only one bathroom in the house where my husband and I lived. So, while my friend (with the mannequin) was visiting, I learned that she had a same brand of razor as I did for shaving legs. She left her red razor on the edge of the bathtub one day, crossed over my purple razor, like crossed swords, and I had to giggle. 👠

⭐️ Pentagram

One evening shortly after sunset, I was talking to a friend on the phone who happens to be Wiccan (a follower of the religion known as "Wicca"). At one point during our phone call, I peered out the back window of the laundry room to see a pentagram (a symbol of the "elements" of air, fire, water, earth, and spirit) formed by the branches of the trees. I burst out laughing and had to explain myself. She got a kick out of it, too. 😛

🏈 Go, Tigers!

I do not keep up with the local "religion" in this area (i.e., "football"), but it is frequent to see others professing their love for it. One of the local universities has the "tiger" as their mascot, as seen by this "tiger's tail" which one fan is sporting on their car. 🐱

👽 Aliens!

Forget the stick family, the aliens are now in charge! I could so see some Steemians, such as @dreemsteem, rocking this on the rear windshield of their vehicle. 🛸
