The Hive. Word of the Week from Buddy Up.

The Hive

Howdy folks'.

The weekly word is a promotion held by the Buddy Up community under the dropintheocean tag. It is not a contest more of a topic starter. Each week, those attending a discussion show on the selected word, decide on a new word for the next week at the end of the show. The word this week is **goals**. Each member of the community writes a post on the word. How they view the word or what the words means to them. The posts are then discussed in a show on Mondays that starts at 8 PM UTC in the BuddyUp Discord Server. https://discord.gg/3d5H3K8

Goals

The thought that comes to mind straight away is sports. Setting a time of personal ambition to run the 100 meters. Trying to reach that high jump or long jump you have not made yet. Scoring more baskets in a basketball match. Getting that ball into the back of the net in a football game. This might be the one that rings through to most, scoring goals for the team.

Football itself is not a game I play personally, never really had much interest in it. It does suit this topic very well, Goals! and the eruption of a nation as the ball passes the line. It seems this sport is full of goals all over. Personal and team goals are at work here. Firstly there are the personal goals of training which have to be improved on. Tackling, running with the ball, ball control, curling the ball and how to take a dive. After all of those, there are team goals. The team will have qualifying goals and goals up through all sorts of levels to play in the world cup.

But like I said I it is not my game and I would not know enough about it to write in any depth on it. Bee's do not play football. I wonder how many volleys Jack can do with his balls.

In many stages of life we might be encouraged to have goals, sometimes those goals of our parents are pushed upon us. Well, keeping those circumstances aside. The encouragement of having goals is with us from a young age in parts. It start with the question most of us get asked when young. What would you like to be when you grow up? A fireman. an astronaut, Performer in a circus. From what ever we choose we are told oh you will have to get good at this or be good at that. It is all encouragement to set goals and improve on ourselves.

More often than not I would say, the things we said we wanted to be when we were young are not the same things we ended up doing as adults. The goals we had in life changed for various reasons. Which is understandable as we grow and experience new things.

Until recently, goals were not a thing I personally had. Or maybe I had gaols all along and the opportunity to achieve them has only come to be. The things I am trying to do now, are the same thoughts I had for decades. Things are wrong and they need to change. The ability to change things was never visible to me before. It is now! A big goal I set myself to achieve, change the world. A bit ambitious maybe but it is a possibility. How we live the rules we live under are constantly being changed. Unfortunately, the changes made at the moment are there for the benefit of a small minority.

The change I would like to see is a greater equality distribution for everyone. This is the goal I have set myself. It is not an impossible goal, I can see a road map to make the changes we need to see. It won't happen over night or over a year, not even over ten years.

We have one main goal, to generate millions in funding for projects in the physical world. What is the point of creating all this Crypto currency if we can not make good use of it. A unique window of opportunity is here for us to take advantage of. We should put some attention to doing this. Not just reach the goal set, But move the goal posts on the field we play.

There are many other goals involved too. Not just the final goal.
The first goal set is to increase our Steem Power. At 212 SP now our goal is to reach 225 in Steem power. When this is reached a new level of SP will be set. A new level to the SP will be set each time we reach the goal. These goals make the growth visible. They are also achievable goals. We began at 150 SP and our target goals were in increments of 10. Reaching the 200 goal, the increments of the SP goal increased by 150%. When we reach 500 in SP we will increase those increments to raising 50 SP. Constantly setting a new goal as one is reached.

Along side this we also have the goals of visibility. Giving the opportunity to be part of a positive change to everyone. Promoting the posts me produce and the production of posts are another thing we have goals set on. Aiming to produce one post a day is a gaol set. To the most part we am managing to keep hitting this goal, with only a few misses. After producing a post, the goal becomes to get it seen by others. We have had a good start with promoting ourselves, goals of making it to promotions shows are always there. Steemit Ramble Discord server. https://discord.gg/cyPDXgz iis where most of my server time is spent.I do attend other servers too but the Ramble I find the coolest place to be. I learn something every time I go there. Great hosts and a great audience.

These are the basic goals we use to keep us moving forward at The Hive Achievable goals so we feel some of the progress. Other goals also exist, we do not look at those directly. Having to climb a mountain that high can be defeatist from the start. I have heard opinions like that a couple of times. My goal is not to convince them, standing steadfast to our objective the next time we talk I will try to use alternative words to express the project or an alternative analogy. ( often wonder about the use of that word "analogy" it kind of reads like anal logic. )

We have many other goals to set out rewards for members. I am not going to list them here, bringing those forward will happen when we gain some more growth. Right now we are on level one goals, gaining some growth. We will move to level two were we will expand our voting range while still rewarding our member who invested their time and vote to the community. This means more meaningful interactions with others. Meaningful to them as they get a reward meaningful to us as advertisement of what we want to achieve. Awareness of our community is what will grow us, Each new member is a water drop to the plant. ( maybe we should go invite all the Steemit members with a flower name like Rose or Lily to join our hive. )

Eventually we will reach the level of fund generation for projects. Which project to approach first, where? how? why? but? if? maybe? what? about? when? who? may all change by the time we reach this goal. These goals are not set in stone. they may change due to circumstance. Developments in technology may throw an alternative spin at times. Just like with the value of Steem dropping we will adjust and carry on. The amount we can generate in value is the amount of funding we can generate through voting or rewards to our community. At this level our ability to grow and still invest into communities or our own projects will increase.

Then comes the final goal, growing our physical world projects large enough that they can invest back into Steemit and promote other similar start ups in many places along the same lines as our goal. Bringing a greater level of equality by reducing the costs of living to everyone. Working toward doing more with less, as opposed to doing the same or less with more.

Our goal has many goals along it's path. Many obstacles to over come too, the first one being you and gaining your support. From there, each supporter quickens and eases the load to everyone else. We have our main goal, we also have many other smaller goals that are achievable in a shorter time-frame. Reaching others and growing our SP are the goals we pursue right now.

Having gaols is a good thing.

Even better, If they are achievable.
At The Hive,
we believe this one is.

Thank YOU

:)

What would be conclusive as proof

I love the goals you have set for @thehive Jan, it's a great thing you are starting here. Normally I would think that your big goal could possibly be unreachable but reading how you broke it down I can totally see you achieving it. When you speak of big things like changing the world it's difficult to see how that could be done but you're right, smaller attainable goals to get you there.

Awesome @thehive! Always love your posts! Keep up the good work!!

Thank you, That is everything I needed and wanted to hear :)

Yes, I agree with Mon that having you break it down is something that makes a dream become a goal in the first place, being able to see the steps as opposed to just empty sky between where we are standing and the moon.

I think silly things, like, Every time a child is born we plant a tree. We don't plant a pine tree. We plant an oak and after it grows they can decide if they want fancy furniture made from it or to keep letting it grow. Or maybe a fruit tree for everyone born. Maybe even both. These are just small things we can do to improve things in various ways. We can also have this funded by business.
