Rogue – VOD Movie Review – (2007)

I am really watching a lot of films, I missed in the past on VOD lately, and it's been great.

This movie started with scenes of rugged terrain, a water buffalo carefully gets a drink from a river. Kabam! Water buffalo is taken out by a crocodile.

This movie is not a Lake Placid. This is not a funny movie. Rogue is a creature feature, horror/action film. Pete McKell (Michael Vartan) is a writer for a travel magazine who rates hotels, isn’t into nature and hates animals. He is doing an article on Australia and takes a boat tour of a noted crocodile infested river. Information about crocodiles is slowly doled out through the movie and the knowledge drives the action.

The river tour guide, Kate Ryan (Radha Mitchell), loves the river and has never travel anywhere else. She is tough enough to handle the diverse personalities on and off the cruise and knows she is bound to investigate when one of the tourists sees a flash up the river that could be a distress signal.

An overturned boat is what they find, no survivors. Unfortunately, they are now in the territory of a very big, very smart crocodile that sees them as prey in its territory. The croc rams the tour boat. Kate is able to get the crippled boat to a small tidal island, problem - the tide is coming in and who know when rescue may is coming. The body count starts now.

This movie show people reacting in a horrible situation that just keeps coming. Pete is not a brave hero type. He is in Australia writing a piece he doesn’t want to do and he just wants to get it over with. As the film progresses he starts to adapt and use the information he has been given. Will it be enough to help him survive?

This movie has a good flow and has plenty of scares. The special effects are good enough to not take you out of the film. The performances are good. Overall a pretty good film.
