The Black Future
The air was thick, filled with filth
Hardly we breathe, mask we wore
Itchy the eyes, watery the nose
Smelly it was, Cough, we all.
Colored were the streams,
Plastics, all we see
Fishes afloat, thrash below
Thirst we couldn’t bear, drought was clear
Distance, we walked, but the water wasn’t there
Fierce was the rain,
Frightful was the thunder,
Flying roofs and broken branches in the air
Blocks of ice from the sky
Turbulent water everywhere; destruction was clear.
Hot was the sun
Sweaty we all
Burns everywhere, lips cracky
Weak we all, the heat we felt.
Suffering was clear
The air brought death
The water brought death
The rain brought death
The sun brought death.
Death is near if we don’t care
