A Message Beyond Words

I don't want to come off as elusive while I'm describing what should be a simplistic concept, but the fickle nature of the mind sometimes needs to learn through a sort of art within words, a message beneath the text, or a passage between the lines. Some ideas can't be fully understood while being caged within the restrictive grasp of a sentence and the limited possible expression of a word. Some ideas are too great to be held in such a framework and by compressing them in such a way to make it a possibility, they lose part of their meaning and effectively become discounted as a result. The true potential of the mind isn't apparent without the ability to step back and being able to view its infinite reach. The thoughts we possess inside our heads come from a formless substance generated from imagination, and then, somehow, travels through the biology of man and into the world, past our flesh, so that we can interact with it. It becomes available in such a way that we can learn more from it, than we ever could have while it was still in the confined space of our head.

This is not a form of mysticism or any kind of religious principle. This is a formless construct that is not yet defined by words. It is not impossible to give it a name, but because it is so broad of an idea, it has no inherent comparative association. It's not that it isn't observable, but because of our narrow sight, we aren't able to witness anything beyond its footprints because we are too small to understand. We can't see what the force is that creates the movement in our life because we are looking from a point within the motion. We need to step outside of its reach for a moment to be able to understand its influence. This is not an idea that is shrouded in mystery. This is an idea which is too broad to witness up close. It becomes difficult to understand concepts beyond spoken language, but it's not impossible. With the mind so focused on the physical world and its lingual associations, it becomes unfamiliar and disheartening to consider what doesn't have a name. There is indeed a world that exists between the letters we write and the words that we speak that hold the most obvious of truths, but we become blinded to it from the associations we cling to.

The idea that we can possess anything that we can dream of seems to defy what we know to be true and is assumed to be a notion based around exaggeration. “Thoughts become things” is not just a phrase that suggest that hard work will get you to your destination. This is a promise that is given to any man who knows exactly what he wants. It may seem unrealistic, but don't be fooled. Sometimes, it takes the witnessing of many of the pieces before the realization ever sets in that there is in fact even a puzzle. As we discussed in the previous chapter, there is a lot of stuff going on in the background when it comes to the mind and what enters your conscious awareness. This is really interesting because that means that out of everything we see, we are only observing a fraction of what’s available to be witnessed. The question of the day then is this: "What about all that other stuff happening in the background that we don’t witness?" We already know that we can't be conscious of everything, so this begs the question, "what lies beyond?"

A World Hidden from Sight

Have you ever considered that there is a whole completely different world out there that you have no idea that exists, but could enter into with just a little leap of faith? Imagine all of the things that exist right now that you have heard of, but only know a little about. Now, think about all of the things that you have heard about but have no idea what they are. Aside from these two categories, there is a third category that encompasses everything that exists right now that you are completely oblivious to and by extension, could not possibly know anything about. In business, these categories are described as being what you know, what you know you don’t know, and what you don't know you don't know. That last one is the world I’m talking about and it’s very important you are aware, not only that it exists, but is hiding all of the opportunities from you because of your ignorance to it.

Remember, just like with ignorance of the law in the judicial system, you will be held accountable for your actions by the laws of nature whether or not you A.) Know they exist, or B.) Understand how they operate. This is one of the biggest reasons why it's essential for us to continue to learn throughout our lives. What we don’t know that we don’t know can cause us pain that we don’t have a chance to identify, because it’s out of our range of experience. Maybe the old school slogan of "knowledge is power," is hinting towards this very idea. The more we understand, the more of this hidden world we have made accessible, and the more leverage we have when we make decisions. There's no need to continually get burned from the stove because we can't grasp that it's hot in the first place. The more reach we have to this invisible world, the more power we have and the more knowledge we gather, the more that becomes available.
