Story time- Panic attack

in #story8 years ago

So yesterday my hubby had his first panic attack. It was a combination of emotions that brought it on and it hit him suddenly.

As he explained it, his heart started beating incredibly fast and hard, at first he thought he was having a heart attack. That was followed by the feeling of a vice grip on his chest. Making it feel like he couldn't breathe...

Those who don't really know what it feels like, let me try explain.
Having a panic attack is like being attached to your body via a string. It feels like you ran a marathon while being unfit. You heart feels like it is going to beat out of your chest and no matter how much air you inhale, it doesn't feel like you are getting any oxygen. Even worse is the sudden and often unexplainable sense of fear that overpowers you, you know that it's in your head but because you're attached by a string, your body doesn't get the memo.

Anyway, he was so sweet and after work stopped to get me an apology chocolate, which Iade him eat because his panic attack was still ongoing when he got home.

Sort:

Panic attacks can feel like heart attacks. Claustrophobia can trigger them. Not necessarily being confined to a small space, but also financial problems, work stresses etc. . I think it's one of the wrst feelings in the world.

That's what we call love and love is the highest of all.. You must be lucky to have meet such a wonderful and romantic partner.
